The Truth About Unconscious Bias

We have developed an interactive bias awareness training program specifically designed to provide insight into our own implicit biases.

• Our training focuses on how our life experiences shape the way we perceive and interact with our world, and how that influences our personal and professional relationships. 
• We highlight the fact that this is a natural part of our survival mechanism, which stems from our brain’s ability to process information quickly, so we can react accordingly.
• Since we are not always aware of our subconscious preferences, we must be mindful of how they affect the way we draw conclusions and make important decisions.

In our 5-Step Training Program we focus on a non-blaming approach to understanding our unconscious biases and discuss ways to:

· Step 1: Admit we ALL have biases.

· Step 2: Understand how our biases affect us.

· Step 3: Manage our implicit biases and not allowing them to be explicit biases.

· Step 4: Be a role model for others.

· Step 5: Be an ally for marginalized groups.
